Indoor air quality, big concern. Indoor environmental quality. Get a lot of calls often from concerned parents, with a sibling or their child has allergies.

Or they have been noticing some symptoms of a running nose, watery eyes, etc. They are very concerned about the health of their child. Who wouldn’t be right?
What can they do about it? Often times they hire someone to come in an do mold testing. A lot of times, the mold testing will beneficial to them if they have someone who can help interpret the data.

You definitely don’t want to use something from Home Depot or a home inspector who uses some lab back east somewhere. You want to try and find a true environmental indoor air quality professional. An ACA certified one preferably.

And then there is what is called viable and non viable sampling. Most people start off with non viable which is an air sample. You can sample the air with an air cell, which pulls in the air. That is viable and non viable.

That’ll give you a head start in what we call a limited preliminary indoor environment investigation. From there, you be able to see what types of molds are there. We’re looking for indicator molds. Mold’s that relate to water or water damage history.
